Helping UNC Greensboro students explore "Wellbeing in the Built Environment"
As part of the Greensboro, NC community, Design Environments recently volunteered to give a guest lecture to students in the Interior Architecture & Design program at University of North Carolina - Greensboro. With the goal of giving students practical examples of how well-being is addressed in real-world settings, Megan Campbell, a Senior Designer at Design Environments, highlighted the Glenaire expansion project in a presentation titled: Wellbeing in the Built Environment.
Design Environments was challenged to create a place that feels like home for residents at various stages of life and care. The facility features independent living units, assisted living units, and adult daycare, requiring a diverse range of amenities and spaces. The presentation emphasized how the design/procurement team and its project partners helped the client (Kintura) and the Glenaire team deliver a vibrant, practical, and comfortable location where residents can find community and thrive in an environment that acknowledges the challenges of aging. Careful considerations for design, furniture, signage, and artwork aimed at wellbeing and resident lifestyle were evident in areas such as dining areas, health & wellness facilities, entertainment spaces, along with interior and exterior gathering areas.
