ABC School of NC

Square Footage: 26,000

Location: Winston-Salem, NC

Year Completed: 2018

ID Collaborative partnered with Steele Group Architects on the new SECU Autism Clinic at ABC of NC. This 26,000 square foot Clinic is an expansion of ABC of NC’s existing school campus and provides a broad range of state-of-the-art therapy services. The design team was challenged to provide a lively and bright interior while meeting the unique needs of this clientele.

ID Collaborative focused the development of this design within the parameters of the safety requirements for controlled spaces, the durability of materials to withstand high impact use, allowing for age-appropriate design across the wide spectrum of infants to 18 years, and creating spaces that are dynamic and encourage interaction.

Flooring patterns, soffits, and wall finishes are all designed to make each space an experience, break up long corridors into wayfinding, and create separated interfaces within play areas, gross motor, and other group spaces. The FF&E for this project also maintains the parameters of being dynamic and interactive while focusing on safety and a high level of durability.
